New Texas poll finds Talarico leading Crockett by 9 points in Senate Democratic primary
Texas’ Senate Republican primary, meanwhile, looks headed for a runoff. The survey found U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in a dead heat against Attorney General Ken Paxton, with neither eclipsing 30%.
In a poll conducted earlier this week by Emerson College, sampling 413 likely Democratic statewide voters, Talarico came out on top, collecting 47 percent to Crockett's 37 percent support. Fifteen percent of those polled remained undecided two months out from the March 3 primary.
Texas Right to Life, an anti-abortion organization, wrote on X on January 13: "Governor Greg Abbott has signed Texas' strongest Pro-Life laws over the last few years—because he believes every child deserves a chance at life. That's why we're proud to endorse Gov. Abbott for re-election this March!"
The flip is a remarkable turnaround from September 2024, when only 19 percent of Americans supported abolishing ICE, according to Civiqs. Since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025, that number skyrocketed, but had not overtaken the number of Americans opposed to ICE’s abolition until Good’s killing.
Two-thirds of voters rate their economic opportunities as poor. As recently as 2019, an overwhelming majority said they had good opportunities in Portland.
