President Donald Trump’s approval rating has hovered at around 40% for the duration of his term—despite an 11-point drop in views of his handling of immigration, as violent clashes with ICE officers have led to shootings and deaths of civilians, according to a new poll.
Reuters, The Economist/YouGov and Gallup released monthly polls of Trump’s approval rating throughout 2025. A combined average of the polls finds Trump’s 2025 approval rating at 42%. As the Trump administration enters its crucial second year, polls indicate that much of the American public disapproves of the president and his flagship policies, although views are split along partisan lines.
Another poll, by California-based pollster Civiqs, shows similar numbers: In that survey, Idaho voters have a 57% approval rating of Trump while 38% of registered voters disapprove of his performance. That’s down somewhat from a 65% approval rating and 31% disapproval when Trump first took office, according to Civiqs.
